Maria Caruso

Founding Director

Maria Angelica Caruso is a Pittsburgh native dancer, choreographer, academic and entrepreneur, who is noted for her multi-faceted contributions to humanity and dance. Caruso’s businesses integrate a professional dance company, dance conservatory, fitness program, and a dance movement therapy system, all under the auspices of the Bodiography brand. Focused on inclusivity in the arts ecosystem, she maintains the vision of Bodiography while investing in higher education directing the college preparatory ballet program within La Roche University’s Performing Arts Department. Caruso’s multidisciplinary creative enterprise M-Train Productions spans entertainment, media, and luxury lifestyle products.

Caruso has long been committed to educating the next generation of dancers with industry insights, and she is known for her passionate commitment to health and wellness in the arts. Her steadfast belief that dance is a language that is spoken by every-BODY has informed her catalog of over 100 ballets created specifically for her company of artists. It is supplemented by her choreographic works developed for some of the world’s most esteemed dance companies.

As a dramatic stage performer, Caruso is best known for her critically acclaimed solo, Metamorphosis, which began off-Broadway in 2021 and followed with a global tour and run in London’s West End in the summer of 2022. Her final sold-out performance at the Lyric Theatre was filmed live on July 4th of 2022 and is available on Broadway On Demand and Amazon Prime.

In 2024, Caruso previewed her newest solo creation, Incarnation, in São Paulo, Brazil. The show then opened in London's West End at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane on October 3, 2024. There Caruso made history as the first artist to perform a solo dance show in the theater since its opening in 1663.

The filmed version of Incarnation is also available on both Broadway On Demand and Amazon Prime, continuing Caruso's commitment to expanding the reach of her stage work through cinematic distribution. She is slated to open her third solo show, Counterpoint of Chaos, in May of 2026 at His Majesty's Theatre in the West End.
